Amid the Pandemic, Warmth Flows Through Shanghai

In this city under siege, kindness prevails. Some stay home to protect, while others step out to protect the protectors—among them, our brave young Danzhen volunteers!

They are the heartbeat of the community:
• Distributing daily necessities door-to-door
• Delivering packages and meals
• Assisting with mass testing
• Bridging neighbors and neighborhood committees
• Standing guard for those who guard us

Even our Danzhen leaders joined the fight—organizing, problem-solving, and facing challenges head-on to unite everyone in defending our home.

 

Xiao Ni’s Day
Up at 5:20 AM, on duty by 6:00, working until 12:30—no breaks, no complaints. "There’s no such thing as easy times," she says. "So many work harder than me. I’m just a small part of this. When Shanghai blooms again, let’s gather for hotpot!"

 

A Light in the Darkness
One volunteer noticed the elderly, alone and vulnerable, without family or防疫物资 (protective supplies). Every day, she brings them warm meals—"a small light to keep them safe."

"My neighborhood is full of seniors who can’t navigate QR codes or machines. I just wanted to help."

Shanghai’s streets overflow with gratitude:
• Tears stream as residents watch supply planes overhead
• Flags wave at支援 buses (aid convoys) speeding down highways—"Shanghai welcomes you!"

Their courage moves us to tears. "Our brothers and sisters have come." Suddenly, we feel strength at our backs.
